Door County, WI – The Ride Up
October is a beautiful time of the year to head up to Door County in Wisconsin. I’ll break up our trip into a few posts.
On the way up, we stopped at The Flying Pig, http://www.theflyingpig.biz in Algoma, WI. It’s a great artist gallery and greenspace. They have wonderful art indoors, plus beautiful garden art and sculptures outside. An added bonus was that they have a little coffee cafe, which came in handy after our 4 1/2 hour drive. Susan and Robyn couldn’t have been more helpful and invited us to look around. They had so many wonderful things to choose from, I had to stop myself from buying more.
We stayed the first night in Sturgeon Bay, WI at the Stone Harbor Resort, http://www.stoneharbor-resort.com. I can see why they were named the “Best Lakeshore Resort”. The resort is located on the water, just minutes away from historic downtown Sturgeon Bay. The view from our room was beautiful. We arrived late and left early the next morning, but the staff we met were wonderful, the room was clean and the breakfast the next morning was delicious! We definitely will be back!
I took a drive to the Sturgeon Bay Lighthouse to see the sunrise. It was a perfect autumn day and the sunrise over Lake Michigan was beautiful!
